Manufacturer Info:

The compact, lightweight and ruggedly constructed Fieldscope III series features new loaded O-ring seals and nitrogen (N2) gas for waterproof and fog-free operation.
Each model employs Nikon's multilayer-coated lenses and prisms.
This results in 10 % more light transmission compared to previous models, and enables extra-bright viewing.

In addition to straight body types (Fieldscope III / EDIII), Fieldscope IIIA / EDIII A feature angled body types making sketching and extended viewing much easier.
These models can be turned up to 90 degree right and left and lock in five (5) positions (90 and 45 degree right and left, and normal).

Fieldscope EDIII / EDIII A feature Nikon 's extra-low dispersion (ED) lens glass for chromatic aberration compensation and greater clarity.
Plus, you have seven (7) eyepieces to choose from : such as 24x / 30x wide and 30x / 38x wide versions and the smooth-action 20-45x / 25-56x zoom eyepieces, and more.
Finally, all models have built-in lens hoods for better viewing.
photographic attachment

Moreover, when you attach the optional 800 / 1,000 mm photographic attachment to any model in the "Fieldscope III" series, and you've got an 800mm super-telephoto lens for some of Nikon SLR cameras.

All models accept a 67 mm camera filter.
All of this makes Nikon Fieldscopes the useful tools for bird watching and many other outdoor activities.

Better light transmission with Nikon's multilayer-coated lenses

Nikon's multilayer-coated lenses and prisms enable extra-bright viewing, achieving 10% more light transmission compared to previous models.
Nikon optical excellence and the role of ED glass

When light rays pass through normal optical glass, the red and blue light rays bend at slightly different angles.
This dispersion results in colour fringing and lack of sharpness.
Modern techniques to correct this chromatic aberration are effective with normal and wideangle lenses.
But telescopic lenses magnify the slight variation in focus between red and blue light rays.
So Nikon developed ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass which is especially designed to provide precise optical colour correction.
The result ? Brighter, clearer viewing with remarkable resolution.
Photographic attachment --- convert your Fieldscope into a powerful lens for some of Nikon SLRs

Ever wish you could record the beauty of every bird you spot in your scope? Thanks to Nikon, you can.
The optional 35mm(135) format photographic attachment lets you transform Fieldscope models III / III A / EDIII / EDIII A into 800 mm super-telephoto lenses for some of Nikon SLR cameras. The attachment's built-in lenses --- with Nikon's famed optical quality and sophisticated, four (4)-elements-in-four (4)-groups lens construction --- make it a powerful photographic tool.
