Providing industry leading optical performance and ultrafast focusing speeds using Olympus developed Supersonic Wave Drive (SWD) technology, the 14-35mm is designed for hard professional use due to its robust build and dust and splash-proofing.
The newly developed Olympus-original SWD lens drive technology has made possible an ultra-fast, whisper quiet high precision AF drive system. Two compact high-power supersonic wave drive devices delivers autofocusing at an ultra-high speed while an ultra-compact super-high precision optical encoder detects and controls the lens drive position using direct rotation without a reduction gear. This achieves an incredible focusing precision of 5/1000mm accuracy.
Mechanical interlocking of the manual focusing mechanism provides smooth and natural feeling manual focusing feel with an extremely high level of precision. Seamless switching from autofocus to manual focus is possible at any time thanks to the full-time manual focusing function.
Circular aperture blade mechanism provides smooth and uniform out of focus blur.
