Slimline - Supercompact cameras designed to slip into a pocket. Generally less than 25mm deep front-to-back

Compact - Larger, but still pocketable, cameras

Advanced - These cameras provide a high level of manual control and top-level image quality

Superzoom - Cameras with 10x optical zoom or more. Not really pocketable but still much smaller than an SLR or SLR style camera

SLR Style - Essentially as large as an SLR camera but without the removable lens.

Waterproof - Cameras that can be fully immersed in water, while operating. Maximum depths generally range from 3m to 10m
